Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) conducts the UPPCS exam at Three Stage, Namely
- First Stage: UPPCS Prelims Exam
- Second Stage: UPPCS Mains Exam
- Third Stage: UPPCS Interview (Personality Test)
The UPPSC Prelims Exam comprises of two papers i.e., General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper II (CSAT). Both the papers are of 200 marks with Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). General Studies Paper I consist of 150 MCQ Objective Objective Questions and General Studies Paper II (CSAT) consist of 100 MCQ Based Objective Questions.
General Studies Paper I will be based on General Studies, Current affairs and Special General Studies and Current Affairs of State Uttar Pradesh.
On other hand, General Studies Paper II (CSAT) will be based on Quantitative aptitude, Reasoning, Arithmetic’s, Comprehension, Logical reasoning.
General Studies Paper I will be considered for merit ranking and General Studies Paper II (CSAT) is a qualifying paper. You have to score 33% Marks in General Studies Paper II (CSAT) to Qualify it. Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) comprises negative marking in UPPCS prelims Exam (1/3 Negative Marking).
The candidates who qualify for the UPPCS prelim’s exam will only get admittance to the UPPCS mains exam

- Both the Papers in UPPSC PCS Prelims Exam contains only Objective type MCQ Questions.
- Papers of UPPCS UPPSC Prelims Exam will be in Hindi and English Languages.
- General Studies Paper I counts for making merit and General Studies Paper II (CSAT) is qualifying in nature.
- There is 1/3 Negative marking for both papers of UPPCS Prelims Exam
- For Appearing in UPPCS UPPSC Mains Exam first you have to qualify UPPCS UPPSC Prelims Exam.
- UPPCS UPPSC Prelims Exam Marks does not include for making merit of final selection.

- UPPCS UPPSC Mains Exam held in Offline Mode.
- Uttar Pradesh PCS UPPCS Mains Exam includes total 8 Papers and descriptive in nature.
- This includes 4 GS Papers, 2 Optional subject papers, One General Hindi Papers and One Essay writing Paper.
- For Appearing in UPPCS UPPSC Interview, you have to qualify UPPCS Mains Exam.
- Marks obtained in UPPCS Mains Exam include for making merit of final selection.
